Follow these instructions and draw the
picture, compare yours with that of other
students.
In the background there are some mountains. On
the right hand side, one third of the way down,
there is a tree with a cat sitting under it, behind the
tree, in the distance, is a small house. There is a
man in the foreground, slightly to the left of centre
looking at the camera. There is a church halfway up on the left hand side of the picture. The sun is in the top
left-hand corner of the picture. About halfway along, slightly to the right of centre at the bottom of the picture,
there are some flowers in close-up.

Pair work
Each draw a picture then write the instructions for drawing it. See if your partner can
draw your picture from your instructions without, of course, seeing the original. Is your partner’s
original picture like yours? If not, what went wrong?
These directions are not only used for drawings or suchlike, but also to describe where objects are in
physical space.
