Using AI to supercharge English certification success: a guide for teachers

In this session, we’ll look at how new AI tools can help students prepare for English language certifications and improve key skills. We’ll cover tools that act as virtual tutors for speaking practice and text-to-speech programs that offer listening practice with different accents. You’ll learn how to use these tools to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the classroom. We’ll also explore how writing the right prompts can make a difference in getting useful support and feedback, helping both teachers and students succeed in certification exams.

Andrew Howarth i began teaching in southern Italy about twenty years ago, before moving into educational publishing and transferring to Rome to become a didactical consultant. I was part of a team that provided pedagogical and technical support to state schools in a time of digital transition.

I decided to become freelance in 2018, concentrating on training teachers and giving linguistic support to academic professionals in state schools and universities throughout Italy. I still teach English although nowadays I am becoming more involved in specialist projects, such as showcasing immersive classroom technologies, developing educational content for the classroom and helping teachers and students effectively integrate digital tools and new technologies into their learning environments.
